Torque and Drag and Buckling software description

Torque & Drag & Buckling module provides an advanced solution that ensures the success of drilling, casing and completion operations by anticipating critical mechanical loads. It is based on high-quality scientific stiff-string model.

The Stiff String & Buckling module is an advanced solution, based on field-validated iterative stiff-string model, and enables full post-buckling evaluation. As it is not using FEA, simultaneous computations can be made in a short-time. It assesses additional contacts and stresses due to buckling and ensures a full drillstring mechanical analysis (axial tension, bending moments, contact forces, 3D deflection, stretch, twist, triaxial Von Mises stresses).

This module supports not only conventional but also unconventional drilling operations as it allows modeling of all field operations (RIH, POOH, Drilling and Rotating Off Bottom) for drill string, casing string, completion and coiled tubing manufactured from steel and non-steel materials (aluminum, titanium …).

Field simulated conditions and operating parameters are also supported by the module. In fact, engineers can observe the effects of hole size, clearance, micro & macro tortuosity and mud weight when analyzing simulation results due to an advanced 3D viewer designed for full results representation and interpretation.
