DRILLING FATIGUE

Simulate fatigue and level of stress at any point of the string.

This module simulates fatigue and stress level based on the well trajectory profile, as well as the drillstring description and its operational history.

Each element in the BHA can be individually analyzed to observe fatigue across several points along any element. For example, with a mud motor, monitoring points can be set at the bit box, motor bend, kick-pad, and at the top sub in order to model fatigue at each of these critical components. There is no limit on the number of points allowed on each element.

First, a stress calculation is performed using the input run data and our advanced stiff-string torque and drag and buckling engine. Next, a fatigue calculation is run using either:

  1. Customizable S-N curves input by the user
  2. Goodman method
  3. Gerber method
