OBJECTIVES FOR ATTENDEES
The objectives of this training course is to acquire a deep understanding about drill string mechanics for complex drilling applications; such as Torque & Drag & Buckling, Fatigue and Casing Wear. This course offers technical overview of all operational and technical aspects required to design and operate drill string equipments in complex drilling programs. A strong emphasis is put on the understanding of the different mechanisms involved, to gain understanding of the drill string mechanics and theoretical background. Each participant will have the opportunity to run on one of the most advanced professional software to analyse drill strings in complex environments.
Stéphane Menand is the President of DrillScan, and is based in Houston. Previously, he held a research position at Mines ParisTech university. He has 18 years of experience in the Oil&Gas industry, mainly as an R&D project manager in drilling engineering, more specifically in directional drilling, drillstring mechanics (torque, drag, and buckling), drilling dynamics and drill-bit performance. Menand has authored several SPE and other technical papers (25+), patents, and he earned a PhD degree in drilling engineering from Mines ParisTech. Menand serves on the Journal of Petroleum Technology Editorial Committee and SPE Drilling and Completions Journal (Associate Editor).
