BHA trajectory prediction software description

The BHA trajectory prediction module allows directional drilling calculation and it’s complementary to the equilibrium curvature approach. It assesses the wellpath from a drill ahead mode with varying local conditions. It is easy to determine the local doglegs generated by:

  • Interbedded & anisotropic formations
  • WOB fluctuations
  • Overgauge/caving effects
  • Side tracks

The Trajectory Prediction module uses all available information such as geology, hole conditions (formation dip & strike, UCS) and planned logs of operating parameters to simulate borehole tortuosity and spiraling or potential inabilities in achieving desired directional objectives.

Coupled with a BHA Post-Analysis of an offset well, the Trajectory Prediction module provides a better understanding of the downhole borehole conditions and decreases the uncertainty of the simulations results.
