Advanced TVD wellbore placement service description

TVD wellbore placement needs to be carefully addressed when geosteering or drilling complex wells, SAGD wells, horizontal wells and ERD wells. In addition, it enables precise drain positioning within the reservoir. The TVD uncertainty is mainly impacted by the wellbore inclination measurement accuracy, the survey frequency and by the sensor misalignment within the borehole.

Our Advanced TVD Wellbore Placement service allows you to improve the overall well positioning and reduce largely the TVD error uncertainty, by implementation of two coupled processes:

  • BHA Sag Management: The sag management process is used to provide a full sag correction over a BHA run or over a complete wellbore trajectory and allows to take into account the cumulative TVD error of the overall wellbore survey stations.
  • Local Dogleg Analysis: After the sag correction has been realized, the local dogleg process provides a way to reconstruct the Steering / Sliding & Rotate Pattern to reveal the real well path position in between wellbore surveys stations. Coupled with the sag management process, it contributes to increase the accuracy of the overall wellbore positioning and reduce the TVD error that may occur in critical drilling phases such as horizontal landing and drain placement off the water-oil or gas-oil contacts.
